Twitter Advertising – Celebrities Who Earned the Most from Promotional Tweets

Before the advent of hashtags, few knew how to use Twitter. Today, it is often misused for building fame, influence, and wealth, as earning from promotional tweets requires just a few thousand followers.

Celebrities have taken full advantage of this, as they are followed by millions. Some earn millions of dollars advertising their sponsors’ products on Twitter.

With the help of the Twitter money calculator, Top Dollar calculated how much celebrities earn with each of their tweets.

Kevin Hart far ahead of everyone

From just 46 promoted tweets since he opened his Twitter profile in 2009, actor and comedian Kevin Hart has earned nearly $14 million. This figure does not reflect how much his controversial tweets have cost him, but it seems he is doing well.

Pop star Demi Lovato joined Twitter just a month before Hart, when she was only 16 years old. To date, she has earned $10.1 million from just 23 promoted tweets.

Gamers are the most active

Imane Anys, better known as Pokimane, earns the most of all gamers – just under $4 million, mainly selling toys themed around video games. Forbes included her in this year’s ’30 under 30′ list.

Pokimane has posted as many as 160 promotional tweets, but she was surpassed by Fortnite player DrLupo, who earned $2.8 million from 212 ads. Gamers have the highest average number of sponsored posts on Twitter across all categories, totaling 64. Additionally, gamers make up eight of the top 10 most active advertisers.

Footballers take the best

It has long been known that footballers supplement their generous salaries with sponsorship deals. Former Brazilian footballer Kaká does not have to worry about his retirement. With his 22 promotional tweets, he increased his wealth of $90 million by another five dollars.

Ronaldo’s earnings on Twitter from 10 promotional tweets lag just half a million behind Kaká’s. Basketball player Stephen Curry is the best athlete outside the world of football, with $2.7 million earned from 33 ads.

The Kardashian dynasty

Five of the top 10 stars with the highest earnings on Twitter come from the world of film and television, and half of them are Kardashians or Jenners. Kim, Kendall, Khloé, Kourtney, and Kylie have earned $18.5 million from Twitter ads – still only $4.5 million more than the amount Kevin Hart earned alone.

With 171 tweets, TV host Steve Harvey is the second most active promo tweeter.

Beauty and music

Beauty influencers earn the least from Twitter ads – around $200,000 with an average of 20 promotional tweets. Top influencer Lauren Conrad earned $3 million from Twitter ads, double what all other beauty influencers earned combined.

After Demi Lovato, Liam Payne is the second-ranked musician with earnings of $4.1 million from Twitter ads, followed by Lady Gaga. She earned as much as $4.08 million from just five tweets, but admits she is reluctant to promote products.

A sensitive business

Twitter has become a sort of hive for scammers as some use Twitter advertising for nefarious purposes like increasing wealth. In such an environment, it is actually refreshing to see the hashtag #ad and know that someone is trying to sell you something.

However, Twitter ads are a sensitive matter for those who use them. True sponsorship not only brings in money, it also strengthens the celebrity’s brand. Moreover, a wrong association between influencers and brands can destroy the brand’s image and affect the price of their products.
