Opel unveiled the new Grandland last week – an elegant sports SUV with intuitive controls and innovative technologies, featuring a fully digital Pure Panel that offers the driver a completely different experience in the cockpit. The company’s hybrid SUV flagship provides its customers with technology and various assistance systems that can usually be found only in higher-class vehicles, such as Night Vision, which detects pedestrians and animals in the dark at a distance of up to one hundred meters and alerts the driver. There is also Highway Integration Assist, which keeps the Grandland centered in its lane and maintains distance from the vehicle ahead.

New face of the brand

With the new Grandland, Opel adheres to its electrification strategy. Customers looking for a high-efficiency plug-in hybrid will be able to choose between front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The new Grandland now features the recognizable Opel Vizor, the new face of the brand that sharpens the front-end appearance and seamlessly integrates the grille, logo, and IntelliLux LED Pixel lights into one visual element.

Pure Panel consists of two wide digital displays in one unit that are angled towards the driver and contain all essential information about driving and the vehicle. The new Opel Grandland is additionally equipped with many assistance systems. A 360-degree panoramic camera aids the driver in maneuvering with the help of front and rear cameras. The space in front and behind the vehicle, as well as a bird’s-eye view, are displayed on the infotainment screen.

Driving partner

The automatic parking assistant recognizes parallel and perpendicular parking spaces and automatically guides the Grandland when entering or exiting a parking space. The blind spot warning system prevents potential collisions when turning or changing lanes, and in case of danger, a vehicle symbol lights up in the corresponding external mirror. Standard equipment for every Grandland variant includes front collision warning with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, drowsiness detection, and cruise control. Thanks to the flexibility of the multi-energy platform, Grandland customers can choose their preferred drive system: from efficient diesel and gasoline engines to electrified plug-in hybrids. The price is not yet known, and deliveries will begin in the fall.
