Valentin Jakovac has been appointed as the temporary bankruptcy trustee of Kiklop Film. The company owned by Antun and Andrija Vrdoljaks was the producer of the film and series ‘General’, which ended unsuccessfully both in cinemas and on television. The project was very ambitious: HRT invested 9.6 million kuna, HAVC 4.2 million, the City of Zagreb 1.8 million, HEP 600 thousand kuna… The Ministry of Defense withheld the cost of military participation.
Despite the significant investments, there were remnants in the form of unpaid fees and other services to suppliers. The account blockage is ‘heavy’ at 3.5 million kuna. Since Kiklop has no employees, a move towards a shortened bankruptcy was initiated, in which all claims would simply be written off and the company liquidated. This was supported by the statement of director Andrija Vrdoljak that the company has no assets.
However, a creditor emerged, GripFilm from Samobor, owned by Josip Siladija and Branko Vulića, with a claim of 412 thousand kuna. They paid the required deposit of 5,000 kuna and proposed access to the entire debtor’s documentation. Therefore, Jakovac was ordered to sift through the books and complete documentation to assess whether there are assets that could cover the bankruptcy costs.
The companies of the Vrdoljaks that produced ‘General’ and the series about Tito have collected at least 17 lawsuits ‘worth’ more than 1.6 million kuna.
