Cantab PI Wins Award for Best Global Fintech in ‘Scale-Up’ Development Phase

Cantab Predictive Intelligence (Cantab PI), a British-Croatian startup developing an artificial intelligence platform for banks and pharmaceuticals, has received both top awards at a major international program for advanced-stage startups.

In a competition of 469 advanced-stage startups from 51 countries, 15 were selected, whose products were tested in a three-month program by Hungary’s OTP Bank in six European countries.

At the final ceremony, the results of which have just been announced, KiwiTech, one of the world’s leading accelerator programs for startups based in New York, awarded the Global Innovation Award to Cantab PI’s AI platform for banks.

Moshin Syed, Chief Startup Officer of KiwiTech, stated that the Cantab PI AI platform for banking, particularly the AI algorithms for credit risk assessment, is very important in the COVID-19 circumstances, where an increasing number of people without credit history or with insufficient credit history will need financial support.

Additionally, Cantab PI also received the audience award for best startup pitch in the same competition of 469 startups.

Cantab PI’s platforms for banking and the pharmaceutical industry are used by some of the world’s leading corporations across three continents. Cantab PI combines applied mathematics and statistics, an understanding of the business environment, and cutting-edge artificial intelligence technology in developing original architectures of artificial intelligence for specific B2B use cases.

This Croatian-British startup was founded in 2017 by Siniša Slijepčević and Nela Pustaj in Cambridge. Their artificial intelligence algorithms are utilized by some of the largest banks and pharmaceutical companies in the world. They are currently planning to expand their business to a global level and intend to increase their team in Croatia from the current 30 employees to as many as 40.
