Tomislav Tomašević, the new mayor of Zagreb, has yet to meet with the leaders of the C.I.O.S. Group, specialized in waste management, who are still awaiting his arrival. The company believes that Mayor Tomašević will find time to visit the largest Zagreb group for waste management, which, as they emphasize, employs almost 1000 employees in Croatia and significantly contributes to environmental and nature protection in Croatia. They conveyed this in response to Lider’s inquiry about their expectations from the new mayor, which we sent them seven days ago.
– C.I. O. S. congratulates Mr. Tomašević on his election as the mayor of the City of Zagreb. Our expectations, and we believe those of many residents of the capital of Croatia, are that he will be the mayor of all citizens of the City of Zagreb, who fulfills all given promises. Given the long-standing activity of the new mayor and his knowledge of the interests and problems of the City and the citizens of Zagreb, we believe that these promises were not made lightly – they stated from C.I. O. S.
In response to our inquiry about how they comment on the program of the Možemo! party, particularly the part concerning waste management, and regarding the announced revisions of contracts concluded with Zagrebački holding, they replied that they have not studied the program in detail, but they are familiar, they emphasize, with certain segments and statements made during the campaign about planned activities for establishing waste prevention centers in neighborhoods, building sorting facilities for separating separately collected waste, as well as extracting valuable raw materials from mixed municipal waste.
– Since the beginning of its operation, for a full 30 years, the C.I.O.S. Group has advocated and practically implemented material recovery of waste and applies the best available techniques according to the principle of circular economy – converting waste into resources. Quality, systematic, and efficient waste management is also the mission of the Group’s operation, in which the new city government will have our support in the realization of pre-election promises – they stated from C.I. O. S., who, as they note, have repeatedly invited Tomašević to visit them. The invitations, they say, date back to April 2018, when they called him as a representative in the City Assembly of the City of Zagreb and as a representative of the initiative Zagreb is ours.
– He apologized at that time due to obligations, announced that he would get back to them, but the meeting has yet to take place. The invitations have been repeated recently, even during the campaign – they concluded in the company.
