The Office for Digital Nomads was officially opened today at Trokut in the presence of the Mayor of Šibenik, Dr. Med. Željko Burić, Head of the Department for Economy, Entrepreneurship and Development, Petar Mišura, digital nomad Mike Pulley, Office Manager Katarina Ćorković, and Director of Trokut, Diana Mudrinić.
As of January 1, 2021, Croatia officially began offering temporary residence to digital nomads. The digital nomad visa allows for temporary residence in Croatia for up to one year. Digital nomads can also apply for a second, subsequent digital nomad visa, but only six months after the expiration of the first visa.
– We are following the story that is developing in Trokut with joy and optimism. We are pleased that Trokut has already become recognized as a place that gathers young entrepreneurs from Croatia and the world. Here, new generation entrepreneurs who lead us into the future can find their opportunity. We believe that all digital nomads who visit Šibenik will fall in love with this city and all the advantages it offers – noted Mayor Željko Burić.
Digital nomads do not have fixed working hours or a workplace as they work as needed depending on the type of project or job they are currently engaged in. Some nomads work more than 12 hours a day, but their work location often changes. The current coronavirus pandemic has resulted in an increase in the number of people who now have the opportunity to work remotely, making the term ‘digital nomads’ more popular than ever before.
– Based on our reflections on digital nomads who often prefer to work in coworking spaces, we developed the concept of the Trokut Center tailored to them, as a large part of that space is occupied by them. That we have predicted well is evidenced by the demand for new office desks already in the first year of operation. I believe that the occupancy by digital nomads in Trokut will be more than satisfactory – emphasized Head Petar Mišura.
Mike Pulley has spent more than two and a half decades in the IT industry, working with companies such as Apple and HP, and is now a winemaker in Šibenik.
