ALTPRO Harnessed Technology and Achieved Record Results

The Croatian company ALTPRO has secured an impressive array of projects during the coronavirus pandemic. This high-tech company, which develops and manufactures signaling and safety systems for railway infrastructure and rolling stock, has signed a multi-million contract with railways in India, will install its signaling and safety systems in several cities in China for trams, metros, and monorails, and at the end of March, signed a contract with the Swiss company Stadler to equip 42 trains in the United Kingdom with automatic train stopping systems – RAS90.

Export to over 50 countries

This system is the latest product from the niche of vehicle safety systems, and its main function is to initiate automatic braking if the driver does not adhere to safety regulations, with new metros expected to completely replace the existing fleet by 2024. Although they are busy with projects worldwide, ALTPRO is developing new products. For a company that has been in the market for 27 years, the largest current project is the development of a new axle counter and a new sensor, which, if all goes well, will surpass all competition.

In pandemic times, innovation is highly valued, and this trait had to be utilized when half of the employees needed to switch to working from home in just a few days.

This is not simple; however, in the first ten months of last year, thanks to maximum adaptation and digitalization, they compensated for the record business results achieved in 2019. The results are even more fascinating considering that it is an export-oriented company that exports its products to over 50 countries worldwide and generates most of its revenue abroad. Through a network of partners, as well as direct actions towards customers, the company can market, install, and maintain its systems anywhere in the world.

Assistance from the fifth-generation network

CENDIS, a new digital product from ALTPRO, is based on cloud services, and modern IT infrastructure has greatly assisted in facing the newly emerged challenges. Raising the level of railway traffic safety worldwide is currently ensured by over 180 experts deployed at five locations in Croatia and the region. The fifth-generation network will also assist them, especially when installing equipment in remote and inaccessible locations, as well as for communicating the RAS system on vehicles with the CENDIS system and as a backup in case of internet access failure. ALTPRO has demonstrated through its operations in foreign markets during the coronavirus crisis that despite business partners being separated, they can remain connected and achieve record results.
