[VIDEO] After seven years, the fourth generation of the popular model arrives

The Škoda Fabia appeared on the market twenty-two years ago, and now the Czech car manufacturer has presented its fourth generation, which comes exactly seven years after the third. The new Fabia is based on the new modular MQB-A0 platform of the Volkswagen Group, just like the new Volkswagen Polo.

The new platform is responsible for the fact that the Fabia is now 111 mm longer than its predecessor, 48 mm wider, and has a 94 mm increased wheelbase. This means that there is more space for passengers inside, and the trunk volume has also increased, now with a capacity of 380 liters.

Choice of five petrol engines

The Škoda Fabia comes with five EVO generation petrol engines, all of which comply with the European emission standard Euro 6d. The engine power ranges from 65 to 150 HP. The entry-level models with 65 and 80 HP are paired with a five-speed manual transmission, there is also a one-liter three-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 95 HP combined with a five-speed manual transmission, and a version with 110 HP combined with a six-speed manual or seven-speed DSG automatic transmission.

And there is also the most powerful 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 150 HP, which comes only with a DSG automatic transmission. This last one is also the most powerful engine, with which the new Fabia will accelerate to one hundred kilometers per hour in 7.9 seconds with a maximum speed of 225 kilometers per hour.

A range of safety systems

Inside the car, there is now a somewhat more modern approach, which still remains true to Škoda with clean lines. The novelty is the circular air vents, and in the center of the dashboard, there is an infotainment system of standard size of eight inches, also available in a version of 9.2 inches. The system comes with advanced software that offers all possible connections with smartphones, voice assistance, and gesture commands.

As for safety, the Fabia comes with Simply Clever solutions, specifically 13 new ones, and there are also lane-keeping systems, automatic braking systems, and a range of other safety systems. The new Fabia will hit the market in the second half of the year, and the base model is expected to cost just under 14,000 euros, or less than 107,000 kuna.
