Krešimir Kuterovac is building a large pig farm in Slavonia

The company Agroporc has invested four and a half million kuna in the construction of a pig farming complex in the Slavonian village of Breštanovci in the municipality of Crnac. This is a self-sustaining complex based on the concept of 'zero waste' (zero waste) consisting of two piglet breeding farms with 3,000 sows each and an annual breeding capacity of 110,000 piglets for fattening. It will also create fifteen jobs. In addition to Agroporc, the investors are Inaporc and Euro-tim, who together invested another four million kuna. The entire project is worth seven million euros.

—– “We expect a decision on co-financing from EU funds. For the investment to be profitable, it should be at least 50 percent of the amount. We plan to close the rest of the financial structure with a HBOR loan and contributions from private investors” – says agronomist, founder, and director of Agroporc Krešimir Kuterovac, who was also the director of Vupik, executive director for livestock production at the former Agrokor, and state secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture. He emphasizes that a unique direct financing project is also in preparation, in which interested citizens and domestic investors can participate. The investment prospectus will be available in June this year.

The farm project was developed by Kuterovac and Ivana Bekić Vidović, experts in pig farming who have been in this business for over twenty years and have already led the construction of a large pig farming system (15,000 sows or 400,000 fatteners).
– “With a profitability of 15 percent EBITDA margin, the farm will ensure a secure return for investors. Such a successful result is possible because it involves innovative technology, optimized costs, and top genetics” – says Kuterovac.

​The farm is expected to be completed by August next year, and the construction has been entrusted to the company Euroiskop Našice.

– “Croatia is dependent on food imports. We import fifty percent of pig farming consumption, while at the same time we are raw material exporters. We are witnessing changes in global trade: there is less and less free trade and more and more political trade. I hope that as a small country with negligible political influence, we become aware of the dangers to society if we do not increase food production in the near future” – emphasizes Kuterovac.
