Minister of Labor, Pension System, Family and Social Policy Josip Aladrović announced that negotiations on amendments to labor legislation will begin before October of this year.

– It is necessary to recognize the opportunities arising from technological advancement and to utilize them to encourage entrepreneurial activity and expand active participation in the labor market. The new regulation should serve as an incentive for economic growth and through the introduction of possibilities for better work organization that will, on one hand, affect greater worker productivity, and on the other hand, through innovative forms of work that allow for a better balance between business and private life – said Aladrović for Jutarnji.

He added that this situation is also an opportunity for more intensive digitalization of the domestic private and public sectors and for a stronger step forward towards a more efficient and competitive Croatian economy.

Regarding wages in the state and public sectors, the minister emphasized that their primary goal is to protect wage levels in the entire economy.

– The fact is that fiscal capacities are limited and in this context, we will discuss during the autumn with representatives of the unions through negotiations on the basis and one-time material rights for the next year. We are aware of all the obligations undertaken and we believe that the unions, as before, will recognize the government’s desire to resolve certain issues in a partnership relationship and that we will find understanding, and I expect that during the negotiations we will find quality solutions for mutual benefit –  said the minister.

Aladrović also added that the primary focus is on measures to preserve jobs and workers

– All support is paid per worker, thus creating projections. We anticipate that funds will be disbursed for about 100 thousand workers – he said.

He stated that for all measures that will be implemented by the end of the year, funds from EU sources will be fully utilized.
