HSM Informatika, as part of its corporate social responsibility program, is awarding two scholarships for young people with disabilities for a duration of one year. The aim is to provide support to one of the most vulnerable groups among youth, individuals with disabilities, to successfully complete their education.

The introduction of the corporate social responsibility program, in addition to its positive social impact, brings a range of internal and external benefits to companies. An increasing number of firms view socially responsible activities as part of their business mission, exerting positive pressure on other companies in the ecosystem.

— HSM Informatika, specialized in implementing and distributing software and hardware solutions, has adopted the principles of socially responsible business as an integral part of its daily operations.

Despite the COVID pandemic, during this year HSM Informatika has provided financial and material support to a number of socially responsible projects in Croatia and Serbia.

For instance, this year they supported the homeless through the Humanitarian Association Fajter, financially supported the Safe House in Belgrade, and provided direct support to marginalized groups through donations to the Lice Ulice association.

– We will remember this year for a long time for many reasons, and what is always important to remember is the significance of providing support to others. Therefore, this year we decided on a different approach and launched a pilot corporate social responsibility program with the support of the Brodoto agency. In this way, we are creating a framework for systematically providing support to vulnerable groups, considering the real needs of the local community. The program is ongoing and is based on the goals of providing support to the homeless and people on the brink of poverty, young people with disabilities, and the most needy within the COVID crisis and the earthquake in Zagreb –  emphasized Juraj Urbanke, director of HSM Informatika.

Companies in the region that wish to adapt their business model and operate on the principles of corporate social responsibility typically require expert support, from mapping local initiatives, networking, creating a strategic cooperation framework and recommendations to the implementation of corporate social responsibility programs.

— The Brodoto agency strategically provides support precisely in this segment and has launched “OUR 1%” – the first regional initiative for networking stakeholders, creating corporate social responsibility programs, and achieving systematic social impact.

The goals of the initiative are to provide systematic support to socially responsible projects in local communities and the region, encourage companies to turn to the principles of socially responsible business as a global trend with multiple benefits, and network stakeholders to achieve structured social impact in areas where it is most needed.

– Every company has unique characteristics, and it is essential to develop a unique approach to socially responsible activities that would include sustainable development components into the existing model, with the possibility of monitoring the achieved impact. HSM Informatika has recognized this fact, and we have started to create a pilot program based on the assessment of business indicators and business vision. A key element in this process is mapping socially responsible projects in the local community, creating mutual trust, and developing a unique approach to collaboration in each segment.
In light of the above, the pilot program focuses its activities on contributing to the fulfillment of the following global sustainable development goals by 2030 – eradicating poverty, quality education, and reducing inequality – explained Damir Šoh, director of the Brodoto agency.

Upcoming activities within the pilot program include a competition for awarding scholarships to young people with disabilities.

All regular students can apply for the competition, which will be open from September 7 to 20. Details about the competition can be found at the link.

– We invite all young people with disabilities to take this opportunity, apply for the competition, and secure support for a better continuation of their education. We also invite socially responsible companies to join such initiatives and, if possible, to launch similar ones so that we, as a society, can continuously and systematically provide support for the development of youth”, concludes Juraj Urbanke, director of HSM Informatika.
