In recent months, due to the coronavirus, there has been a decline in the sale of parking tickets, but with the return to a new normal and thanks to the arrival of foreign tourists, significant recovery in this sector was recorded in July and August in Croatia. Specifically, the currently most popular Croatian parking app, PayDo, is breaking records and is currently approaching the number of 200,000 users, active in 77 Croatian cities, completely free of charge, and with national coverage guarantees service availability at almost every step.

—It allows for parking payment without a fee as it does not use the SMS protocol, and it is especially loved by tourists for whom it is often the only way to pay for parking via mobile. This is confirmed by data showing that the largest number of PayDo transactions so far has been achieved precisely in tourist regions (Istria, Kvarner, and Dalmatia), while the city of Osijek has the most users in the continental part, aside from Zagreb. This season, the number of transactions via the PayDo app has drastically increased throughout Croatia, while in tourist centers such as Rovinj, Pula, Opatija, Fažana, Tučepi, and Orebić, PayDo has become the leading method of paying for parking. The highest daily number of PayDo transactions in 2020 was recorded as early as the beginning of July, while last year that number was only achieved in mid-August.
But it is not only foreigners who have recognized the advantages that PayDo offers – there are also special benefits for business and private users. The module for business users available at www.paydo.hr allows each company to register a unique account through which it can manage the parking payments of its employees and associated vehicles, with significant savings and reduced administration (for all purchases made via the business prepaid account, one invoice is received at the end of the month).
For all Mastercard® card users, an additional promotional benefit is active until the end of 2020: 10 percent of the paid amount for hourly tickets is returned to the user on a promotional account that can be used for future parking payments. Additionally, a new feature is that for each purchased hourly parking ticket, on the last Thursday of the month, Mastercard® returns 20 percent of the amount of the paid ticket to the same account.
