The Omiš textile company Galeb, a member of the Tekstilpromet group, is beginning to expand its retail network through franchises due to customer interest. It is particularly interested in the cities of Poreč, Rovinj, Pazin, Pula, Opatija, Čakovec, Virovitica, Osijek, Slavonski Brod, Vukovar, Požega, Našice, Knin, Šibenik, and Zadar.
This does not mean, says director Josip Aračić, that Galeb is abandoning its retail units, but rather that it simply enables business partners to start their own business with its experience and knowledge.
– Galeb has a total of 362 employees and with its 35 retail units, it is the largest domestic platform for the production and distribution of knitted clothing products in Croatia. We have already had franchisees selling our products, and now we are just supplementing the offer where it is lacking, especially since customers are requesting it – Aračić emphasized, adding that the company will continue to independently expand its retail network in those places where it deems it makes sense.
Among the many benefits that Galeb offers to franchisees, Aračić highlights financial-logistical support, which includes a minimal share of own funds and a small initial investment. Franchisees only need to pay rent for the space and their workers, which is why the business risk is minimal, believes Galeb’s director. Among other things, the company provides all its partners with the arrangement and design of sales spaces and areas, ideally between 30 to 50 square meters. It also offers staff training, delivery of goods, monitoring of sales and customer satisfaction, and payment of commissions based on sold quantities.
