On Thursday, the government excluded food and cosmetic products for everyday use from exceptional price control measures for certain products, while these measures will continue to apply to medicines, medical products, protective masks, protective clothing and equipment, and disinfectants.
– Considering that the supply of the population through retail chains is regular and that there has been no shortage of products on the market, food and cosmetic products for everyday use are excluded from exceptional price control – said Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tomislav Ćorić, adding that this will enable the market to function in accordance with the principles of supply and demand.
He added that the threat from the COVID-19 disease has not ceased in Croatia, so the original decision continues to apply to medicines, medical products, protective masks, protective clothing and equipment, and disinfectants.
He reminded that the purpose of the decision on exceptional measures for certain products from March 15 of this year, which was supplemented on April 30, is to prevent negative effects from changes in individual product prices, and thus the possibility of monopolistic pricing of products in the context of the COVID-19 disease epidemic. The decisions, he said, were made to protect consumers and their health.
