A temporary bankruptcy administrator has been appointed for PERGAMENT from Bjelopolje (Plitvička Jezera). The pre-bankruptcy procedure was opened back in October 2018. In the latest version of the restructuring plan, from May 2019, claims of 75.5 million kuna are mentioned, of which 44.5 million kuna are guarantees for a loan from ERSTE BANK to the company WHITEFIELD ENERGY. Alongside PERGAMENT, the guarantor is BUKVA, a subsidiary of the same owner, Blago Sablje, for which the bankruptcy procedure was opened on June 10. The real debtor, WHITEFIELD ENERGY owned by Domagoj Sablje and the Belgian company UPGRADE ENERGY, has been in bankruptcy proceedings since May 29.
Although the three bankruptcies are clearly related, the Commercial Court in Rijeka has assigned a separate bankruptcy administrator to each of the three companies. The bankruptcy of WHITEFIELD ENERGY is managed by Slaven Gavrić, BUKVA by Zdravko Ružić, and PERGAMENT is now overseen by Zdravko Čupković.
All of this is in accordance with regulations. The state once found an original way to tackle a series of illegal 'rigging' of jobs. Instead of insisting on the integrity of bankruptcy administrators and harshly punishing any illegality, it remembered an original anti-corruption solution, so now bankruptcy administrators are 'chosen' by a computer, or assigned randomly. – Of course, this is not the most rational approach, but it is legally safer than having the same person manage all three bankruptcies – comments legal expert Hrvoje Kačer on the sad state of commercial judiciary.
