– According to the estimates of the European Commission, we could grow by as much as 7.5 percent in 2021 – said Plenković in the Croatian Parliament while presenting the program and composition of his second, and the 15th Croatian Government.
He emphasized that in this regard, the Government’s priority will be to fully utilize the funds from the European Council and the negotiated 22 billion euros, as well as the European recovery program, as an additional strong lever for the recovery of the economy. He announced that his Government, which the Parliament is expected to confirm on Thursday, will send a legislative proposal for the reconstruction of Zagreb and its surroundings from the earthquake during the session on Friday. The damages are estimated at 11.5 billion euros, he reminded. He warned that Croatia will have to continue to deal with the consequences of the coronavirus pandemic, which is not subsiding globally, but rather accelerating.
– The pandemic will still be with us, so we need to remain responsible and learn to live with the virus by adhering to measures – said Plenković, emphasizing that only together, relying on expertise and science, can we successfully navigate this challenging time and ensure Croatia’s economic recovery.
