The Structure of the New Government Presented: 16 Ministries and Two New Deputy Prime Ministers

Mandatar Andrej Plenković presented the structure of the new government on Thursday, which will consist of 16 ministries, and announced the names of four deputy prime ministers, adding that the names of the ministers will be published next week.

– There are many demanding challenges ahead of Croatia, primarily political, but also economic, financial, and public health in nature, so our goal was to move towards convening a new session of the Croatian Parliament as soon as possible – said Plenković at Pantovčak after President Zoran Milanović entrusted him with the mandate to form a new government.

Plenković stated that the government will have four deputy prime ministers, alongside the existing Davora Božinovića and Zdravka Marića, the new deputy prime ministers are Tomo Medved and Boris Milošević.

He announced that there will be 16 ministries, four fewer than before. The existing ministries of justice and administration will be merged, as well as the Ministry of Construction and Spatial Planning with the Ministry of State Property.

– We will also merge the Ministry of Labor, Pension System, and Social Policy, and the Ministry of Culture will also include media in its title. We will have the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, as well as the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, which will encompass the sectors of economy, energy, climate change, and environmental protection – said mandator Plenković and announced that the constitutive session of the Croatian Parliament will be held on Wednesday, July 22.

In addition, the structure for the Ministry of Science and Education, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Croatian Veterans, the Ministry of Finance, as well as the Ministry of Defense, Agriculture, European Union Funds and Regional Development, Foreign and European Affairs, the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, and the Ministry of Health will remain unchanged.

Plenković announced that the names of the new ministers will be officially announced after the meeting of the central body of the HDZ on Monday.

– We will continue to have the Central State Office for the Development of the Digital Society, the Central State Office for Croats Outside the Republic of Croatia, the Central State Office for Public Procurement, and the Central State Office for Demography and Youth as a new body – said Plenković.
