The President of the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Milanović, on Thursday in the Presidential Palace, granted the mandate to form a government to the president of HDZ, Andrej Plenković, after he submitted the signatures of 76 elected representatives who support him. According to the Constitution, the President of the Republic grants the mandate to form a government to a person who, based on the distribution of parliamentary seats in the Croatian Parliament, enjoys the confidence of the majority of all representatives.
Plenković thus proved to President Milanović with 76 signatures that he has the support of the majority of elected parliamentary representatives to be the mandate holder for forming the government. Support for Plenković to form the government was given by 66 elected representatives on the HDZ list, 8 representatives of national minorities, and one representative each from HNS and Reformists. The constitutive session of the Croatian Parliament is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, July 22.
President Zoran Milanović previously received the president and members of the State Electoral Commission (DIP) who presented him with the official results of the elections for representatives in the Croatian Parliament.
