– In June, we had 265 loads of wire spring cores for export, and in the first week of July, 59. For comparison, in the same period last year, there were 195 loads and in the first week of July, 40 – says Davor Gečić, the head of Leggett & Platt Components for this part of Europe.

He emphasizes that the situation during the corona crisis was not simple. Namely, immediately after Easter, for the first time in the company’s history, they closed for two weeks and took collective annual leave. After that, due to great uncertainty, they were unfortunately forced to reduce the number of employees by about 20 percent.

– However, relatively quickly after that, the situation changed for the better in a short time and, as can be seen from the above figures, it is currently madness – Gečić tells us. He warns that even this situation is unsustainable and that it is the effect of the so-called ‘duck curve’ and believes that they are currently at their peak. He emphasizes that they are very cautious and monitor the situation on a weekly basis across Europe and expect autumn with great uncertainty.

Otherwise, LPT limited liability company was founded in 2000 as a subsidiary of the multinational American corporation Leggett & Platt headquartered in the city of Carthage in the state of Missouri in the USA. Leggett & Platt has been operating since 1883.

The company LPT is part of the European division of Leggett & Platt Components Europe. It operates in Prelog where production was relocated in 2008. The total production-storage-administrative space, after the last extension in 2018, is 38,000 square meters.

The company is divided into two main business segments: the production of wire and wire cores for mattresses and the production of machines, equipment, and parts. In the production program of wire cores, LPT today has the status of the largest Croatian, but also regional producer of various types of wire cores for mattresses. The company currently employs a total of 500 employees, of which 400 are in the production of wire cores, and 100 in machine engineering. In 2020, the plan is to achieve over 500 million kuna in revenue, of which 95 percent is exported to 30 countries worldwide.

We invite all entrepreneurs to let us know (message, photos) of their trucks and trailers that they are loading for export. Until now, tourists entering Croatia have been counted (to avoid misunderstanding, every tourist is worth their weight in gold), and Lider begins to count trucks leaving our borders with goods for sale.
