The topic of the last panel at Lider’s Smart Cities 2020 conference was the smart city concept – mobility, IoT, smart lighting, and smart services discussed by Ivica Perko (City of Koprivnica), Ivan Bilać (ECCOS engineering), Marin Gregorović (City of Cres), Thomas Müller (ATRON Group) and Josip Pavković from HBOR who presented the loans that the bank provides for the introduction of smart solutions in cities.
Gregorović emphasized that the largest solar power plant in Croatia is being built in Cres, and under the smart city concept, he considers the self-sustainability of the island. He also highlighted the application of a smart solution in public lighting usage, which saved 400 thousand kuna and reduced CO2 emissions. Koprivnica has developed several solutions under the smart city concept, but they have not yet been integrated into a single platform. Perko pointed out e-mobility and that the first charging stations for electric cars were installed in Koprivnica and that this city has many more features that make it smart and enhance the quality of life for its residents.
– Smaller cities can sometimes perform much better than larger ones; due to less administration and faster decision-making, they have greater benefits from the introduced solutions – stated Thomas Müller, sales director of the Swiss ATRON group, recommending Croatian cities to ensure in the future that they do not make the mistakes of others and to skip paper tickets and immediately switch to digital ticket issuance.
Bilać from ECCOS engineering, a company that develops and implements solutions for smart cities, spoke about how to achieve smart solutions.
– We develop systems for technical protection, automation, efficient energy use… and provide a complete electroengineering service to users through a platform for implementing smart solutions in cities. Our systems of various purposes are used in Zagreb, Rovinj, Poreč, and besides city administrations, they are also used by companies – said Bilać.
According to Pavković, HBOR helps cities obtain funds for the introduction of smart solutions for public lighting with favorable loans. An amount of 150 million kuna is available, of which 100 million kuna has been approved for projects so far.
