Four workshops in June will help you conduct phone conversations in English with ease! The first two workshops will introduce you to expressions for making and changing agreements, while the other two workshops will teach you how to ask for specific information. Learn these expressions and pick up the phone!

Telephoning: Showing interest and ending a call

We can express interest in what the person we are talking to is saying or asking with Certainly, what do you need to know? or I look forward to getting it (if it’s about an email, for example). So the conversation might sound like this:

  • The reason I’m calling is to ask you a question about our appointment on Monday.
  • Certainly, what do you need to know?
  • Well, I would like to prepare a presentation about our project. Could you tell me if we will have enough time for me to show it?
  • Of course! I look forward to seeing it.

When we want to end the conversation, we will say OK, I think that’s everything or Right, I think that’s all I need to know, after which we use I’ll see you on… Thank you. Goodbye, or That’s great, I’ll see you on…

Now recall the expressions for making and changing agreements and the expressions we use to ask for specific information, and take the quiz!
