Today in Croatia: Minister Butković signs contracts worth half a billion kuna, DIP on electoral lists, campaign officially begins

Here is an overview of the most important events in Croatia.

RIJEKA – Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković will participate in the signing of two important contracts for the development of the Port of Rijeka, worth a total of 554 million kuna, co-financed by non-repayable EU funds. These are contracts for the execution of works on the state road DC403 from the Škurinje interchange to the Port of Rijeka and contracts for the execution of works for deepening the seabed at the Adriatic Gate terminal. ZAGREB – The Association of Croatian Travel Agencies (UHPA) will discuss current topics related to the association’s operations, as well as those of member agencies and overall tourism in the new circumstances due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic at the Assembly. This is also one of the larger first, although with only a few dozen participants, professional business gatherings after the easing of measures against the coronavirus (12:00 PM, Westin Hotel, Kršnjavoga 1).

ZAGREB – The State Electoral Commission (DIP) will report at a press conference on the aggregate lists, i.e., on the validly proposed lists for the elections to the Croatian Parliament, as well as valid candidacies in the XII electoral district, and on the further course of preparations for the elections on July 5 (1:00 PM, Small Hall of the Croatian Parliament, St. Mark’s Square 6).

ZAGREB – Session of the Government of the Republic of Croatia (12:00 PM, NSK, Croatian Brotherhood Community 4).

ZAGREB – Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, Minister of Labor and Pension System Josip Aladrović, and Director of the Croatian Employment Service Ante Lončar will ceremonially hand over contracts for the allocation of non-repayable funds under the Call “Zaželi – program for the employment of women – phase II,” which is financed by the European Social Fund within the Operational Program Efficient Human Resources 2014-2020 (11:00 AM, NSK, Croatian Brotherhood Community 4). The goal of the second phase is to ensure continued funding for the employment activities of hard-to-employ women in providing support and assistance to the elderly and disadvantaged individuals. The project enables members of targeted groups to receive assistance for labor market inclusion for 12 months, and in the final phase, education and training for employed women is planned. ZAGREB – Continuation of the 34th session of the Zagreb City Assembly (11:00 AM, Congress Hall of the Zagreb Fair, Dubrovnik Avenue 15).

DUBROVNIK – A demonstration exercise on the establishment of this year’s Emergency Helicopter Medical Service during the summer season, which will be attended by Minister of Health Vili Beroš, Dubrovnik-Neretva County Prefect Nikola Dobroslavić, and leaders of the General Hospital Dubrovnik Marijo Bekić and the Emergency Medical Institute Luka Lulić (1:30 PM, heliport next to the General Hospital Dubrovnik).

ZAGREB – HDZ Secretary General Gordan Jandroković will hold a press conference ahead of the start of the parliamentary election campaign (11:00 AM, HDZ Headquarters, Square of Victims of Fascism 4).

KOPRIVNICA – The Restart Coalition will officially begin the campaign for the parliamentary elections with a pre-election gathering. The gathering will feature speeches by the President of the SDP and leader of the Restart Coalition Davor Bernardić, President of the HSS Krešo Beljak, President of the HSU Silvano Hrelja, President of GLAS Anka Mrak-Taritaš, President of the Main Board of Snaga Goran Aleksić, Vice President of the SDP and coordinator for the II electoral district Rajko Ostojić, and Mayor of Koprivnica Mišel Jakšić (4:30 PM, Youth Center, Street of Croatian Statehood 10).

ZAGREB – The Labor and Solidarity Party will present its electoral program and electoral lists for the Croatian Parliament. The presentation will also be attended by the party president Milan Bandić, as well as candidates on the lists for the Croatian Parliament (3:30 PM, Journalists’ Home, Perkovčeva 2).

ZAGREB – The Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH) will present at a press conference titled “Elections 2020: No Economic Recovery Without Social Recovery” the demands that members of the affiliated unions want to hear the party and coalition positions on during the parliamentary election campaign. SSSH will highlight the expectations and demands of its members from the next government and will request that the parties and coalitions running in the elections express their views on them. The topics and demands they want to hear more about during the election campaign will be presented by SSSH President Mladen Novosel and Executive Secretary of SSSH for Social Dialogue and Public Policies Ana Milićević Pezelj (10:00 AM, Workers’ Home, Square of King Petar Krešimir IV 2).

ZAGREB – Presentation of the results of a comprehensive study on the psychological state of the nation during the pandemic and after the earthquake in Zagreb. The aim of the research, which will be presented at a press conference, is to examine changes in lifestyle and relationships during the COVID-19 pandemic, how citizens experienced these changes, sources of stress in the new situation, and the consequences of experienced stress on mental health (12:00 PM, Hall D-VII of the Faculty of Philosophy, Ivana Lučića 3).

ZAGREB – The Center for Dialogue Culture and representatives of the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Croatia, in the presence of Mufti Aziz Hasanović, will present at a press conference the project New Neighbors – Inclusion of Persons with Approved International Protection into Croatian Society. This project aims to include and integrate persons with approved international protection in Croatia (11:00 AM, Islamic Cultural Center Zagreb, Prilaz Safvet-bega Bašagića 1).
