The Turkish real estate agency Antalya Homes has announced that its clients can pay for properties using bitcoin (BTC).

According to a statement from June 15, Antalya Homes claims to have recorded the most expensive real estate sale in Turkey since it enabled payments in bitcoin.

The agency stated that the coronavirus has clearly forced the real estate industry to innovate. Therefore, Antalya Homes has modernized its operations and made it easier for its clients by enabling virtual property viewings and adding bitcoin support on its website. The agency’s president explained the entire process of the most expensive villa purchase with bitcoin:

– When selling the villa, we recorded the property with a drone and created a virtual property viewing with the buyer. We then connected the buyer and seller, and they held an online meeting where they finalized negotiations. After that, Antalya Homes facilitated the payment in bitcoin. This sale, worth [1.25 million dollars], is also the most expensive property sale in bitcoin in Turkey.

The Antalya Homes website features a section “Pay with Bitcoin,” but notes that the agency also allows payments in other cryptocurrencies such as: XRP, bitcoin cash (BCH), litecoin (LTC), bitcoin gold (BTG), tether (USDT), stellar (XLM), and ether (ETH).

Increasing Use of Cryptocurrencies in the Real Estate Market

As fees for large amount payments are high, payments in cryptocurrencies seem to be a good choice. Several other cases of buying and selling properties in bitcoin have been recorded. Real estate investor Ben Shoaul sold an apartment on Manhattan’s Upper East Side for 15.3 million dollars, but in Bitcoin.

In October 2019, a 150-year-old English church was also offered for sale for bitcoin worth 1.5 million dollars.
