Today in Croatia: Pevex’s Business Results, Greenpeace Initiative, and City Budget Rebalance

We announce the most important events in Croatia for Monday, June 9:

ZAGREB – The retail chain Pevex will present its business results for the period 2016 – 2019 at a press conference. Pevex will announce the business results for the previous year, 2019, compared to 2015, the final year of operations under the previous management (11:00 AM, Matis Absolut Lounge, Trg Stjepana Radića 3).

RIJEKA – Minister of Science and Education Blaženka Divjak will visit the project of constructing an annex to the Faculty of Management in Tourism and Hospitality at the University of Rijeka as part of the Mini Campus Ika. The value of the works amounts to 15.9 million kuna, with the Ministry co-financing this capital project with seven million kuna. The works began in November 2018. Accompanied by the Rector of the University of Rijeka Snježana Prijić-Samaržija, the minister will tour the Mini Campus Ika. After the tour and a short ceremonial program, media statements are planned (10 AM, Faculty of Management in Tourism and Hospitality, Primorska 42).

ZAGREB – The session of the Zagreb City Assembly, where one of the agenda items will be the rebalance of the city budget, will be held in the Congress Hall of the Zagreb Fair (10 AM, Avenija Dubrovnik 15). It is noted that the Winter Garden is a space designated for media representatives, and streaming of the session and Wi-Fi network are also available, while entry to the congress hall is allowed only for cameramen and photographers.

ZAGREB – On the occasion of the start of the public health campaign “Euromelanoma 2020,” a press conference will be held. This is a public health campaign in the fight against skin cancer in which Croatia has participated for the 15th consecutive year, organized by the Croatian Dermatovenerology Society of the Croatian Medical Association (HLZ), the Croatian Society for Dermatological Oncology of HLZ, and the Reference Center for Melanoma of the Ministry of Health. ZAGREB – The initiative against police violence and racism is organizing a protest action in solidarity with the “Black Lives Matter” movement in the USA and the local protests against systemic police violence, and as they state, to “draw attention to the local context” (6 PM, Trg žrtava fašizma).

ZAGREB – Greenpeace activists will bring a prop of planet Earth connected to an infusion on four-meter stretchers in front of the Croatian Parliament. With this performance, they aim to highlight the alarming state of the planet and the need for a “green recovery,” placing environmental and climate protection at the center of recovery planning from the coronavirus pandemic. Greenpeace aims to encourage parties running in the upcoming elections to consider the necessity of a green recovery in their programs and to prioritize stopping the climate crisis highly, with a media statement planned (10 AM, in front of the Croatian Parliament, Trg sv. Marka).
