Minister of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure Oleg Butković emphasized that the proposed decision aims to ensure aid measures for television broadcasters due to a significant reduction in advertising in the media.
'- This has led to a significant decrease in the revenue of television broadcasters and thus to considerable difficulties in fulfilling obligations based on existing contracts with the network and infrastructure operator – the company Odašiljači i veze d.o.o – said Butković
The accepted decision reduces the amount of compensation that television broadcasters pay to the operator Odašiljači i veze for broadcasting their programs in multiplexes MUX A and MUX B and multiplex MUX D for the period from April 1, 2020, until the transition to broadcasting in the new DVB-T2 system. Additionally, a reduction in the monthly fee is introduced in the installment payment so that 50 percent of the amount is paid upon maturity, and the remaining 50 percent of the fee is paid in equal monthly installments without interest.
The government also accepted the proposal regarding aid measures for radio broadcasters whose regular operations have been hindered by the COVID-19 epidemic, leading to a significant reduction in revenue and difficulties in fulfilling obligations to the company Odašiljači i veze.
– It is proposed to instruct the operator – the company Odašiljači i veze to offer radio broadcasters benefits in the form of discounts or payment terms in accordance with its capabilities and contractual rights and obligations from April 1, 2020, until the declaration of the end of the COVID-19 epidemic' – said Butković.
