The National Police Office for the Suppression of Corruption and Organized Crime (PNUSKOK) began early Friday morning in the areas of Zagreb, Split, Knin, and Gračac with the realization of a months-long criminal investigation, stated MUP spokesperson Marina Mandić.
MUP specifies that arrests of several individuals, state officials, and businessmen are ongoing due to suspicion of committing acts against official duty and economic crime with elements of corruption.
Sources close to the investigation confirmed to Hina that on Friday morning, the state secretary of the Ministry of Administration and former mayor of Knin Josipa Rimac and the president of the Management Board of Croatian Forests Krunoslav Jakupčić.
Lawyer Željko Gulišija confirmed that state secretary in the Ministry of Administration Josipa Rimac is at PNUSKOK, and he assumes she has been arrested since she requested his legal protection from there.
– She told me she is at PNUSKOK and wants me to represent her. Since she is there, at the very least, she has been detained, that is the minimum, and I assume she has been arrested – said Gulišija.
He stated that he does not know more information as the conversation with Rimac was brief and he did not want to speculate on the reasons for USKOK’s actions.
