The Civil Protection Headquarters Eases SIX Restrictions. Recommendations from HZJZ Awaited!

Due to the further development of a favorable epidemiological situation, the Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia has continued to ease measures and on Wednesday made three Decisions:

• Decision on amendments to the Decision on necessary measures for limiting social gatherings, trade operations, service activities, and the holding of sports and cultural events during the declared epidemic of COVID-19
• Decision on amendments to the Decision on the manner of holding funerals and last farewells
• Decision on amendments to the Decision on measures when concluding marriage and life partnership

The ban on public events and gatherings of more than 40 people is lifted, and from Wednesday, the number of people who can be present at certain public events and gatherings will be determined by the recommendations and instructions of the Croatian Institute of Public Health, along with other anti-epidemic measures. 

Sports competitions will be able to take place without the presence of spectators, starting from May 30 outdoors and from June 13 in indoor facilities. 

From May 29, the restriction is lifted that only family members and a representative of the religious community can attend the last farewell, as well as the ban on announcing the place and time of the last farewell. Funerals, last farewells, and the laying of urns will still be held in accordance with general anti-epidemic measures and the recommendations and instructions of the Croatian Institute of Public Health. 

From May 29, ceremonies for concluding marriage and life partnership can also be attended by other persons, not just family and witnesses, and the ban on holding wedding ceremonies is lifted. The conclusion of marriage and life partnership, as well as wedding ceremonies, will be held in accordance with general anti-epidemic measures and the recommendations and instructions of the Croatian Institute of Public Health. 

By amending the Decision on the special manner of operation of markets during the declared epidemic of COVID-19, it has been enabled that flowers can be sold at markets, as well as all other products that were sold before the restrictions, in accordance with general anti-epidemic measures and special instructions and recommendations of the Croatian Institute of Public Health.

Due to the favorable epidemiological situation, by amending the Decision on working hours and the manner of operation in the trade sector during the declared epidemic of COVID-19, the ban on Sunday work is lifted, in accordance with general anti-epidemic measures and special instructions and recommendations of the Croatian Institute of Public Health.

An agreement has been reached that the Croatian Institute of Public Health will prepare recommendations with an appropriate epidemiological framework for holding private and business catering gatherings, including weddings, celebrations, and receptions, with the aim of enabling the organization of work in these activities starting from May 27, 2020. In cases where representatives of this industry participate in organizing cultural events such as concerts and festivals, the recommendations will continue to be coordinated with the Ministry of Culture and professional associations. 

During this week, HZJZ will publish recommendations that will detail the epidemiological framework for conducting work in these activities.

From May 27, 2020, it is anticipated that 100 visitors will be allowed in indoor spaces and 300 visitors in outdoor spaces, and further numbers will depend on the epidemiological situation. 

A series of meetings has also been held with the Central State Office for Sport and various Croatian sports federations, where it was agreed that from May 30, 2020, competitions will be allowed outdoors without an audience under the epidemiological framework of the Croatian Institute of Public Health, which will be published in the meantime.

The Civil Protection Headquarters of the Republic of Croatia made the following decisions on Monday, May 19:

• Decision on amendments and supplements to the Decision on necessary measures for limiting social gatherings, trade operations, service activities, and the holding of sports and cultural events during the declared epidemic of COVID-19
• Decision on amendments to the Decision on the temporary ban on crossing the border crossings of the Republic of Croatia
• Decision on the necessary measure prohibiting the entry of passenger ships on international cruise voyages into seaports and inland navigation ports during the declared epidemic of COVID-19

The best defense against this virus is maintaining personal hygiene and avoiding close contact. All activities that are allowed to operate must adhere to the recommendations of the Croatian Institute of Public Health.

The measures adopted to reduce the introduction of the disease into the population and strengthen the monitoring of the spread of the coronavirus remain in force.

The best protection is adherence to preventive measures and avoiding touching the eyes, nose, and mouth.
