– Given the overall situation, we can be satisfied with the initial tourist numbers. A quality epidemiological situation is the foundation for achieving results this year, and we are among the best in Europe in this regard. We need to make the most of this in the upcoming period, starting today. Nothing will happen by itself; we must begin to communicate intensively in key markets to attract guests. At the same time, with the finalization of agreements for a simpler and faster entry process for tourists from key emitting markets, we must launch coordinated and targeted promotional activities in those markets – said Veljko Ostojić, director of the Croatian Tourism Association.
For the continuation of capacity opening, it is crucial to achieve precise agreements with the countries that make up our main emitting markets regarding unobstructed travel to Croatia and back, which, as announced in the plan for the opening of the summer tourist season by the Minister of Tourism, is expected no later than mid-June. Therefore, the plan for opening tourist facilities anticipates that camps in Istria, Kvarner, and Dalmatia, as well as additional hotels, will open by the end of May. During June, a complete opening of most hotels and all other tourist services in the destinations is expected.
The HUT emphasizes that it is essential to initiate targeted promotional activities in key markets as soon as possible, in a way that coordinates the activities of the private and public sectors. Successful promotion is key to ensuring greater demand for coming to Croatia and achieving the maximum possible tourist results in this extraordinary year.
