The charging station for electric vehicles with DC charging type and a power of 160 kW can charge a vehicle in just 5 to 15 minutes, and it has been installed at Super Konzum on Sarajevska Street in Zagreb.

The increase in the number of electric vehicles on the roads, with an expected tripling of the number by 2025, the focus on reducing harmful gas emissions, and the transition to cleaner forms of energy are influencing the opening of an increasing number of e-charging stations across the European Union, including Croatia. After fast charging stations for electric vehicles were opened last December within Super Konzum in Delnice and Karlovac, Konzum, in collaboration with Hrvatski Telekom as a technology partner, continues to expand the network of e-charging stations by opening an ultra-fast charging station at Super Konzum on Sarajevska Street in Zagreb.

With more than 250 charging points for all types of electric vehicles and over 50 percent of all publicly available, interoperable e-charging stations in Croatia installed, Hrvatski Telekom is today a leader in the field of e-mobility in Croatia and the region, as well as the most reliable technology partner in their implementation and provision of digital electric vehicle charging services. Through this and a number of other technological solutions, Hrvatski Telekom aims to connect everyone in Croatia with the opportunities that technology provides.

„By participating in the project of opening the e-charging station, Konzum, as the leading retail chain in Croatia, once again demonstrates its focus on promoting sustainable practices and contributing to environmental protection initiatives, while simultaneously providing the best possible service to its customers. With the opening of this ultra-fast charging station, we are setting new trends in Croatia, and we are grateful to Hrvatski Telekom for recognizing us as a partner“, said Ante Ćurić, Director of the Retail Network Development Sector at Konzum.

E-charging stations enable the replenishment of electric energy in the battery systems of vehicles that use exclusively electric energy for their propulsion or use it partially. They differ according to the type of current they supply, the power or speed of charging they can deliver, and the type of connector, with ultra-fast DC charging stations supplying direct current for charging cars, thus making charging on them faster. At the Super Konzum locations in Delnice and Karlovac, fast DC charging stations with a power of 50 kW have been installed, where the vehicle’s battery can be charged in about 30 to 45 minutes, while the charging station on Sarajevska Street in Zagreb, with a power of 160 kW, allows this in just 5 to 15 minutes.

„The opening of the first ultra-fast e-charging station of Hrvatski Telekom is a significant step in our company’s activities in the field of sustainable mobility development. By providing charging points for electric vehicles, as the most environmentally friendly solution in traffic, we aim to provide an additional incentive for creating a sustainable and cleaner environment, which is also part of the mission of Hrvatski Telekom as a socially responsible company and a leader in providing digital charging services in Croatia. I am also pleased that Konzum recognized us as the ideal partner for the realization of this important project, and we look forward to continuing our successful cooperation“, said Jere Dumanić, Director of the Business Customer Marketing Sector at Hrvatski Telekom during the opening.

The ultra-fast charging station has been installed as part of the project „Comprehensive Network of Corridors with Fast Charging in Southeast Europe“, which is co-financed under the EU program Connecting Europe Facility (Instrument for Connecting Europe), aimed at providing top-notch charging services for both domestic electric vehicle users and tourists who come to Croatia on vacation in electric vehicles.

Users of e-charging stations within Super Konzum have access to the Hrvatski Telekom application with a list of all charging station locations in their network, and all Hrvatski Telekom charging stations are part of the HUBJECT and GIREVE eRoaming platforms, enabling users from other countries to use them as well. Payment is possible with RFID cards that can be purchased at T-Centers and via the PlugSurfing mobile application, and until June 1, 2020, charging on Sarajevska Street will be free for all users.
