Today in Croatia: Government on co-financing rents for earthquake victims…

ZAGREB – The session of the Government of the Republic of Croatia (12 PM, National and University Library, Hrvatske bratske zajednice 4). The agenda will include a Proposal for a decision on co-financing part of the rent for housing assistance for individuals whose properties were damaged in the earthquake in the area of the City of Zagreb, Zagreb County, and Krapina-Zagorje County, as well as a Proposal for a conclusion regarding the implementation of Phase III of the development project of the Clinical Hospital Center Zagreb and the execution of repairs to the buildings within that institution damaged in the earthquake.

ZAGREB – The 16th session of the Croatian Parliament will continue (9:30 AM, Croatian Parliament, Trg sv. Marka 6). The Parliament will continue its work with a discussion on amendments to the Law on the Croatian Register of Ships, in order to align it with the Maritime Code that regulates the determination of seaworthiness and statutory certification as well as the calibration of maritime objects. The law prescribes necessary amendments regarding the appointment of members of the Management Board of the Croatian Register of Ships, according to which representatives of the most significant users of services will participate in its work.

ZAGREB – The online session of the Zagreb City Assembly will continue. There are still 13 items on the agenda, including proposals from Mayor Milan Bandić regarding granting consent to Zagrebački holding for long-term borrowing, and the annulment of the conclusion on the urgent disbursement of funds for public needs in culture and covering rental and workspace costs. Also, the establishment of a professional committee for assessing earthquake damage. The agenda also includes proposals from opposition representatives regarding housing assistance for citizens affected by the earthquake and the use of donations for mitigating the consequences of the earthquake. Streaming of the session and recording of statements from city representatives in the wedding hall II on the ground floor has been provided for journalists, and a distribution box has been secured for recording the session’s audio (9 AM, Ćirilometodska 5).

VELIKO TRGOVIŠĆE – On the occasion of the 98th anniversary of the birth of the first Croatian president Franjo Tuđman, a delegation of the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) led by the president of the HDZ and the Government of the Republic of Croatia Andrej Plenković will lay a wreath and light a candle at 9 AM in front of the birthplace of the first Croatian president at Stjepana Radića 95. Along with the president of the HDZ and Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, the delegation will also include the Secretary General of the HDZ and the President of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković and other HDZ officials (9 AM, Stjepana Radića 95).

ZAGREB – A joint press conference will be held by the opposition clubs of city representatives – the Social Democratic Party of Croatia, the Civic Liberal Alliance, and the Croatian Pensioners’ Party, the Left Block Club, HSLS, and independent representative Vladimir Ferdelji, as well as the Club of Independent Representatives (8:30 AM, Old City Hall, Wedding Hall II, Svetih Ćirila i Metoda 5)-

ZAGREB – A press conference will be held by the Transport and Communications Union of Croatia (SPIVH), the Association of Drivers and Transport Workers’ Unions of Croatia (USVPRH), and the Association of Croatian Public Bus Transporters (UHAJLP). The topic of the press conference is “Corona Crisis vs. Public Bus Transport – Is a system collapse and bankruptcies, as well as mass layoffs of employment contracts, imminent?” The presidents of the organizing associations of the press conference Stjepan Lisičak (SPIVH), Ante Jelić (USVPRH), and Hrvoje Meštrović (UHAJLP) will speak on the topic. ZAGREB – At the end of March, there were more than 283 thousand registered business entities in Croatia, of which 57.9 percent or more than 164 thousand were active, and among the active ones, those without or with fewer than ten employees continue to prevail, according to data from the Croatian Bureau of Statistics.
