Sixty Opatija hoteliers and restaurateurs have launched the "19 Days of Defiance" campaign, in which they will offer discounts to guests until June 1, symbolically expressing defiance against the situation caused by the coronavirus pandemic and faith in a better upcoming period.

"Most restaurateurs in Opatija, all hotels opened in May, and the Thalasso Wellness Center will offer their guests special benefits and discounts until June 1, thereby symbolically expressing defiance against the situation caused by the pandemic with the number 19 and faith in a better upcoming period," stated the Opatija Tourist Board. They noted that the exit from the two-month period of closed establishments and distance from guests is being marked by a special action „19 Days of Defiance."

"During the next 19 days, until June 1, most hospitality establishments in Opatija will offer visitors special benefits, tailored to the offer and type of establishment – from discounts on individual services to a general discount of a symbolic 'COVID' 19 percent."

The Opatija Tourist Board emphasizes that Opatija hoteliers have shown proactivity and creativity and that, in collaboration with the Opatija Tourist Board, they have encouraged other tourism entities to participate in the action.

"In this way, our economy has decided to show defiance against the consequences of the pandemic and reward the first guests who have returned to long-delayed habits of enjoying coffee or dinners with romantic views of Opatija,“ assessed the director of the Opatija Tourist Board, Suzi Petričić.

The Opatija Tourist Board also notes that other hoteliers, who did not open in May and are not included in the action, are expected to open their doors at the beginning of June.
