The health safety of the destination will be a decisive factor in deciding on tourist travel this year. In this light, the recommendations for hotels, camps, renters, and marinas published by the Croatian Institute of Public Health on Tuesday are under scrutiny from both the profession and the public, not only in Croatia.

—- The measures and recommendations for tourism operations are generally correct, and I am pleased that they have been defined in a way that allows for (normal) functioning. It can be noted that numerous professional recommendations have been taken into account, and I assume that the relatively good epidemiological situation in Croatia has influenced this, says Ivana Kolar, founder and director of Julius Rose business consulting.
The director of the Croatian Tourism Association (HUT) Veljko Ostojić also welcomes the new HZJZ recommendations, but notes that they entail significant additional costs, and given the uncertainty of this tourist year, it is questionable whether there will be a return on investment, Hina reports. Regardless, it is clear at this moment that last year’s results cannot be pursued, and adherence to recommendations, no matter how much it causes concern and additional investments, is key for guests to even arrive.
– We are all aware that the working circumstances have changed and that above all, it is most important to ensure the health of guests and employees. This does not mean that it was not important before, but today it is crucial to demonstrate that hygiene safety to guests and to gain a new level of trust in the quality of our tourism. The seriousness of all participants in the tourism process is necessary, as I believe that health safety will be a key factor for most tourists when deciding whether to travel this summer and to which destination – concludes Ivana Kolar, advisor to the management of Terme Tuhelj.
