Now that you have mastered small talk with acquaintances, in May we bring you four workshops after which you will confidently engage in small talk with business associates! In the second workshop, you will learn how to introduce the company you work for!

After introducing ourselves and mentioning the company we work for with phrases like I work for… or I’m from…, or, if we want to be more precise about our workplace, I’m responsible for…, we can also introduce the company itself to our business associates, thus opening the door to future collaboration.

To introduce the company we work for, we can start with its founding and say The company was founded in… or, if we want to say who founded it, The company was founded by… The next step is to provide information about what the company does, so we can say We make/manufacture/sell/distribute/supply/provide…, followed by the product or service. If we want to introduce our interlocutor to the subsidiaries, factories, or outlets of our company, we can say We have subsidiaries/factories/branches/outlets in… If we want to mention how many employees the company has, we can do so with We have a workforce of…

The conversation might sound like this:

I work for an accounting company, which was founded in 2000 by Ivan Horvat. We provide financial accounting to our clients, and we have subsidiaries in Rijeka. We have a workforce of 100.

Next Tuesday, we will bring you phrases you can use when introducing a colleague to business associates!
