Croatia has fully and timely fulfilled the Action Plan for joining the European Exchange Rate Mechanism II (ERM II) and the banking union for the period July 2019 – May 2020, said Prime Minister Andrej Plenković on Thursday at a Government session. Reporting on the implementation of activities from the Action Plan of the Republic of Croatia for joining the European Exchange Rate Mechanism II (ERM II) and the banking union, July 2019 – May 2020, Plenković stated that this confirms the Government’s responsibility and good planning.

He reminded that the action plan, adopted in 2018, was prepared in agreement with the relevant European institutions and contains 19 measures.

"We have adopted 12 laws, 6 regulations, conducted three tenders for the sale of shares and stakes, two action plans from the Ministry of Economy that have been adopted, as well as one regulation, one memorandum of understanding, and one audit policy," said Plenković.

According to the Government’s estimates, Croatia will be in the European Exchange Rate Mechanism II for about two and a half years.

"We want to come close to the eurozone with this step because we have seen in this crisis that member states in the eurozone are much stronger, equipped with important instruments for crisis defense," said the Prime Minister, adding that Croatia strives for non-eurozone members to have, if not the same, then at least a similar situation.

The Government also accepted the Report on the implementation of the National Reform Program 2019 for the period November 2019 – April 2020. Finance Minister Zdravko Marić stated that out of one hundred measures, 65 have been implemented, and there would have been more than 70 if it were not for the "corona crisis".
