Kujundžić: Insurance companies operate on a profit principle, HZZO needs to be preserved

Health Minister Milan Kujundžić commented on Thursday on the actions of certain insurance companies that do not want to extend supplementary insurance policies to individuals who have had significant health problems, asserting that insurance companies operate on a profit principle, which is why health policy should be built to preserve HZZO and ensure the availability and safety of healthcare for all citizens.

“Insurance companies operate on a profit principle, so this is to be expected. We need to preserve HZZO, availability, and safety for all citizens, and health policy in Croatia should be built on this path,” said Kujundžić.

When asked if a message should be sent to insurers not to do this, Kujundžić replied that the message is primarily to the people to “long-term preserve what will guarantee that they will have health insurance and safety at all times, in both good and bad times.”
