No Salary, Strike at 3. Maj and Uljanik Continues

Representatives of the Strike Committee of Shipyard 3. Maj met on Wednesday with the Management of that shipyard, but no solutions were found for the current situation and the payment of salaries, so the strike, which began this morning, continues, it was learned in the afternoon from the Strike Committee.

The President of the Strike Committee, Veljko Todorović, stated that workers were striking at their workplaces during the first shift this morning and that they dispersed in the afternoon, while emergency services, such as firefighters and others, were deployed in the shipyard. In the second shift, he said, work has not been carried out for a long time due to a lack of materials.

The Deputy President of the Strike Committee, Boris Bučanac, stated on Thursday after the start of the strike that the atmosphere in the shipyard was heated and called on the Government and Management to find a solution for the current situation, emphasizing that if necessary, the Strike Committee would consider having workers take to the streets.

Workers of 3. Maj, as well as the entire Uljanik group, are demanding the payment of salaries for July, which were supposed to be paid by August 15. At 3. Maj, they are seeking the continuation of shipbuilding activities and production, as well as a resolution regarding the fate of the shipyard, where, although ships are on the slips, no work has been done for months due to a lack of funds for necessary materials.

The first day of the strike at the Uljanik shipyard in Pula, which began on Wednesday morning after a failed five-day mediation due to the non-payment of July salaries, was concluded in the afternoon and will continue tomorrow.
