Last weekend on highways 1.2 million vehicles, revenues increased to 49 million kuna

On all Croatian highways last weekend, from August 4th, nearly 1.2 million vehicles were recorded, and there were more vehicles on each highway compared to the comparable weekend last year, according to data from the highway concession companies.

As usual, the highest number of vehicles last weekend, from August 17th to 19th, was on the highways managed by Hrvatske autoceste (HAC) and Autoceste Rijeka-Zagreb, with nearly 912 thousand vehicles, which is almost 9 percent more than in the comparable weekend last year.

The revenue from tolls also increased by a slightly smaller percentage, 8.6 percent, to 49.6 million kuna excluding VAT, HAC reported.

According to data from the company Autoceste Zagreb-Macelj, on the eponymous highway it manages, there were a total of 109.1 thousand vehicles over the weekend, or 2.5 percent more than in the same weekend last year. The highest number of vehicles on that road was recorded on Saturday, August 18th, with just over 40 thousand, which is almost 3 percent more, while the largest increase of 3.6 percent on that highway was on Sunday, with 35.4 thousand vehicles.

On the Istrian Y, a higher traffic volume than last year was also recorded over the weekend, by almost 5 percent, with just over 168.7 thousand vehicles, with each day of the weekend showing a similar increase in the number of vehicles of about 5 percent. On that highway, according to data from the concessionaire Bina Istre, the highest number of vehicles was on Saturday, 62.2 thousand.

Increased traffic on all highways continued on Monday morning, and concessionaires note that they have recorded strong traffic during the weekdays this summer, especially on Mondays and Fridays.
