The departure of the Punto has been anticipated for weeks, ever since the management of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) presented a five-year business plan in early June, in which the Punto was not mentioned – neither the existing nor the future model.

With the departure of the Punto, which has been produced in more or less unchanged form for a full 13 years, Fiat has lost its representative in the B-segment. The first generation Punto was produced from 1993 to 1999, the second generation Punto arrived in 1999, and in 2005 the third and final generation of the model known as Grande Punto was introduced. In a quarter of a century, over nine million units of the Fiat Punto have been produced.
