Salary in Uljanik Delayed, Unions Dissatisfied

Uljanik Group announced on Thursday that the salary at the company is delayed by one day and that the Management is doing everything possible to ensure it is paid as soon as possible, while the unions are demanding immediate payment, threatening industrial actions otherwise.

“Despite the falsehoods spread by illegal and self-proclaimed representatives of workers and political activists, work is being done around the clock to secure funds for salaries and to pay part of our suppliers’ claims. The Management of Uljanik fully informed the unions about everything at a direct meeting today. The Management is doing everything to resolve this issue as quickly as possible to ensure prompt salary payments and continue preparations for the implementation of the restructuring program,” Uljanik stated.

Representatives of the unions operating in Uljanik – the Adriatic Union, the Union of Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia, and the Metalworkers’ Union, say that workers are dissatisfied and expect their salaries to be paid, as otherwise they could initiate union actions.

Starting tomorrow, a five-day mediation process begins, and if salaries are not paid, a strike is also possible.

The president of the Adriatic Union, Boris Cerovac, stated after today’s meeting with the Management that the workers have done their job fairly and expect salary payments. He was joined in this by the commissioner of the Union of Istria, Kvarner and Dalmatia, Rajko Kutlača, and the Metalworkers’ Union of Croatia, Đino Šverko, who announced the possibility of initiating union actions as early as Tuesday.

According to the Collective Agreement, workers in Uljanik must be paid for the previous month by the 15th of the month, and if that day is a non-working day, then the next day.

Every month, 51 million kuna must be secured to pay the salaries of workers in Uljanik and 3. maja.
