The total gross premium charged by 20 Croatian insurance companies at the end of July amounted to 6.25 billion kuna, which is 10.51 percent higher compared to the same month last year, according to data from the Croatian Insurance Bureau (HUO).
In the non-life insurance group, which accounts for 68.82 percent of the total premium, the gross premium charged in July compared to the same month last year increased by 9.90 percent, to 4.3 billion kuna.
In the life insurance segment, the gross premium recorded an increase of 11.88 percent, to 1.95 billion kuna, according to HUO data.

The most prevalent type of insurance in the non-life insurance segment remains motor vehicle liability insurance, with a gross premium charged at the end of July amounting to 1.34 billion kuna, or 6.99 percent higher compared to the same month last year.
Within motor vehicle liability insurance, the largest share is held by mandatory insurance for owners or users of motor vehicles against automotive liability for damages caused to third parties, known as mandatory auto insurance, with a premium amount of 1.27 billion kuna.
This premium amount is 6.80 percent higher than in July 2017, and in the first seven months of this year, a total of 1,377,906 mandatory auto insurance policies were concluded, which is 75,835 policies or 5.82 percent more than in the same period last year.
