Rimac Launches Technology Park in Livno to Prevent Youth Emigration

Entrepreneur Mate Rimac announced on Tuesday in Livno the establishment of a Technology Park in the city to assist in employment and to stop the emigration of young people, as well as to attract investments to this area, which he assessed as the worst in Europe.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina has the worst economy in Europe, and the Herzegovina-Neretva County is the worst in the country. The situation is catastrophic,” said Rimac at the Business Forum Livno 2018.

Together with other residents of Livno, he encouraged the establishment of the Technology Park in the city, which will begin operations in early September and is expected to help young people living there and strengthen ties with the diaspora.

“Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially the Livno area, is in a catastrophic state, and the diaspora has the knowledge and capital to turn the trends around. Our people are leaving here to drive trucks and work in construction. We want that to stop. We want to help young people in their beginnings, with advice and infrastructure, and later assist them with other challenges,” added Rimac.

The Technology Park in Livno is expected to engage 30 young people, with the possibility of expanding the number to 100 jobs.

Professor Stipe Čelar from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Split assessed that it is very important to change the habits of young people, especially the negative approach regarding the possibility of starting their own business.

The initiative to establish the Technology Park was also supported by the Mayor of Livno, Luka Čelan, who announced that the city will financially strengthen its capacities.
