KNIN / TEPLJUH – The Croatian Association of Inmates of Serbian Concentration Camps, the Sisak-Moslavina County branch and the Split-Dalmatia County branch, along with the City of Knin, will ceremoniously commemorate the Day of Camp Inmates and the Knin Camp and the first exchange of inmates at Tepljuh.
As the organizers emphasize, “by commemorating and remembering all those who suffered, we pay tribute and express gratitude because they contributed to the creation of an independent and sovereign state of Croatia through their sacrifice.” Participants will gather at the Monument of the Croatian Victory “Storm ’95” starting at 9:45 AM, where wreaths will be laid and candles lit at 10 AM.
The commemoration will be attended by envoys of the President of the Republic Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, the Speaker of the Croatian Parliament Gordan Jandroković, the Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, as well as representatives from the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of the Interior, and the Ministry of Croatian Veterans. Wreaths will also be laid by Šibenik-Knin County Prefect Goran Pauk, the Mayor of the City of Knin Marko Jelić, and representatives of veterans’ associations.
The program will continue in front of the Commemorative Plaque of the Old Hospital Knin, and at the Home of the Croatian Army King Zvonimir Knin. Departure of participants to the Commemorative Monument of the first exchange of inmates in Tepljuh is scheduled for 2 PM. The commemoration of the Day of Camp Inmates and the Knin Camp is held under the high patronage of the Croatian President Grabar-Kitarović.
