METKOVIĆ – The President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, will attend the 21st Boat Marathon. After reviewing the lined-up boat crews, a ceremonial address by the President of the Republic is scheduled (3:45 PM, King Tomislav Square). The Neretva Boat Marathon is a race of traditional vessels over a 22.5-kilometer long route from Metković to the finish line in the Ploče Bay. Each year, around 30 boat teams and approximately 300 rowers participate in vessels that historically played a key transport-economic role for the residents of the Neretva region. The ceremonial program begins at 3 PM, and the Marathon starts at 5 PM under the Lučki Bridge in Metković, from where the race proceeds down the Neretva River, starting from Metković, through Kula Norinska, Krvavac, Opuzena, Komin, Banja, Šarić Struge, Rogotina, Čeveljuša, Stablina, to the finish line located 22,580 meters away in Ploče.
PLOČE – The President of the Republic, Kolinda Grabar Kitarović, will attend the award ceremony for the boaters, winners of the 21st Boat Marathon. (9 PM). The winner receives a large transitional Domagoj shield as a gift, as well as a small shield for permanent ownership.
