Slovenia Achieved a Trade Surplus of 417.5 Million Euros

In the first six months of this year, Slovenia exported goods worth 15.5 billion euros, while imports amounted to 15.1 billion euros, resulting in a trade surplus of 417.5 million euros, the Slovenian Statistical Office reported on Thursday.

Exports in the first half of this year increased by 11.2 percent compared to the same period last year, while imports grew at a slower pace of 10.9 percent. The coverage of imports by exports in the first half of this year was 2.8 percent, according to data from the Slovenian Statistical Office.

The main export and import area remains the EU member states, with Germany and Italy being the most important countries for both exports and imports.

According to Slovenian statistics, exports to the 28-member European Union in the first half of the year increased by 11.8 percent, to just over 12 billion euros, while imports rose by 8.5 percent, to 11.9 billion euros.

In the first six months, Slovenian companies exported goods worth 3.5 billion euros to non-EU countries, which is 9 percent more than in the same period last year, while imports from these countries increased more significantly, by 21 percent, to 3.2 billion euros.

According to data from the Slovenian Statistical Office, the main export products in the first half of the year were passenger cars and parts for cars, as well as pharmaceutical products, while imports were dominated by cars and motor oils.
