‘Impact’ weekend: A higher number of vehicles recorded on highways than last year

During the past weekend, from August 3 to 5, a higher number of vehicles was recorded on Croatian highways compared to the comparable weekend last year, with increases ranging from 2.7 to 6.8 percent, according to data from highway concession companies.

During the past weekend, the traffic on highways managed by Hrvatske autoceste (HAC) and Autoceste Rijeka – Zagreb (ARZ) amounted to 927,466 vehicles, and the toll collected was 52.8 million kuna excluding VAT, HAC reported on Monday.

Compared to the same weekend last year, traffic increased by 4.56 percent, and the amount of toll collected increased by 4.64 percent.

From the beginning of the year until August 5, traffic on the highways managed by HAC and ARZ amounted to 33.93 million vehicles, and the toll collected was 1.67 billion kuna. Compared to the same period last year, this represents a 5 percent increase in traffic, while 7 percent more toll was collected, HAC emphasizes.

According to data from Bina Istra, the traffic on the Istrian Y during the past weekend was 2.66 percent higher than in the comparable weekend last year. In the past three days, 158,992 vehicles passed through the Istrian Y, compared to 154,874 last year, Bina Istra reports.

Data from Autocesta Zagreb-Macelj, which manages the eponymous highway, shows that traffic during the past weekend was 6.77 percent higher compared to the comparable weekend last year. Last weekend, 112,765 vehicles traveled on the Zagreb-Macelj highway, while 105,610 were registered last year, the concessionaire reports.
