Students in Croatia may use mobile phones during class only if they have the teacher’s permission, the Ministry of Education responded to a query from Novi list regarding the ban on mobile phones in primary schools in France.

“Mobile phones are welcome as a means of learning and teaching, but not as a means of disrupting classes and distracting attention,” the Ministry states.
However, enforcing the ban is not easy as confiscating mobile phones from students and prohibiting them from bringing them to school is legally debatable since mobile phones are private property, and parents can, on that basis, in accordance with the Property Law, protest against the ban on carrying or confiscation.

Some principals therefore recommend that parents do not allow their children to bring mobile phones to school as they are unnecessary, especially for younger students.
