The Croatian Employers’ Association considers the proposals for tax reform a good start, but believes there is still room for relieving employers.
“HUP supports the efforts of the Government of the Republic of Croatia to reduce the tax burden on employers and citizens, and having seen the initial proposals, we believe there is still room for significantly relieving employers’ costs given the current state of the labor market and the need to enhance the competitiveness of the economy as a whole,” the statement reads.
The association also announces that they plan to engage in social dialogue with the Government to devise additional measures for relieving the economy. Particular emphasis should be placed on business costs and the total cost of labor, but they are also closely monitoring announcements of additional increases in contributions and levies.
“We will demand, through social dialogue, a clear plan for the expenditure of additional new funds and the optimal use of existing funds, i.e., we expect a clear implementation of the reform plan in every sector and strong arguments for the introduction of all additional levies,” concludes HUP.
