The President of Most, Božo Petrov, criticized the Government’s proposal for the continuation of tax reform on Thursday, stating that it is not a reform at all, that nothing changes for citizens with average incomes, prices will not decrease, and gross salaries will increase by an average of about twenty kuna.
It is not a tax reform, but an unambitious complication of an already convoluted tax system that sends a completely wrong message to everyone who would like to invest seriously and long-term in Croatia, Petrov assessed in a statement to Hina after Finance Minister Zdravko Marić presented the continuation of tax relief within the framework of tax reform.
Petrov emphasizes that he welcomes any tax reduction, including VAT, but there are no guarantees that prices will decrease.

Moreover, he says, talking about reducing the tax burden on income also makes no sense because citizens with average incomes may see their gross salary increase by about twenty kuna if the employer is in a good mood.
Petrov particularly criticizes Health Minister Milan Kujundžić, who “announces a drastic increase in taxes on alcohol and cigarettes outside of the Government and the Finance Minister, consequently destroying thousands of jobs.”
“Kujundžić announces drastic increases in excise duties at the same time that the Finance Minister is increasing allocations for health contributions with the new ‘tax reform’ because his system, which consumes 24 billion kuna, is in collapse and is unable to manage such money rationally,” concludes Petrov.
