Kuščević: All 54 bodies will be abolished, i.e., merged with other bodies or ministries

Minister of Administration Lovro Kuščević said on Thursday that the conclusion on reducing the number of agencies, institutes, funds, companies, institutes, foundations, and other legal entities with public authority, a total of 54, aims at rationalizing the state administration and explained that all bodies on the list will be abolished, meaning they will be merged with either another agency or a ministry.

“The government has adopted a conclusion aimed at rationalizing agencies, institutes, and companies in state ownership, a total of 54. Ministries are now obliged to consider this conclusion, implement it, which will mean the abolition of certain agencies, merging with ministries, merging agencies with each other, and abolishing certain companies, i.e., subsidiary companies,” Kuščević told reporters after the government session.

He clarified that these 54 bodies will in any case be abolished, meaning they will be merged with either another agency or a ministry.

“The government has conducted a serious analysis. We have two types of agencies – regulatory and executive. For a certain number of agencies, we have an obligation to the EU to keep them. I believe this is a realistic and final list of which will be merged with which, which will be merged with ministries. It is now up to each ministry to do what is best so that things continue to function organizationally, so that the tasks performed by these agencies, companies, and institutes are carried out even better and to rationalize that system,” Kuščević said.
