Despite the obstacles thrown in the way of the Chinese manufacturer by Americans in an attempt to protect their technological and overall primacy, Huawei has surpassed the once untouchable Apple and become the second largest smartphone manufacturer in the world.

According to data from IHS Markit and Strategy Analytics for the second quarter of this year, the Chinese have captured a 15 percent share of the global market thanks to their growing presence in Europe, the cooling of their home market being halted, increasing brand recognition, and models that offer a wide range of features.
Financial results reflect this success, as the company recorded a 15 percent higher revenue in the first six months of this year ($47.9 billion) compared to the first quarter of last year, reports Reuters.

Samsung holds nearly 20 percent of the global market (interestingly, it is almost negligible in China), while Apple hovers around 12 percent, and even a complete ban on the sale of its devices in America has not managed to prevent Huawei’s growth on a global scale, with the home market playing a key role, growing six percent in the second quarter compared to the same period last year.
